Memory, Secrets & Immortality:
A Crucible for Creativity
A Women's Writing and Visual Arts Retreat with IONE
Women may work on new or pre-existing projects. Meditation, guided meditation, discussion and copious free creative time and sharing of work as desired are a part of this gentle and restorative retreat. Anam Cara Retreat, Beara Peninsula, Co. Cork, Ireland
Beara is a rural and hauntingly beautiful part of Ireland that is kept temperate by the Gulf Stream. The retreat sits on a hill overlooking Coulagh Bay, the mountains of the Ring of Kerry, and the Slieve Mishkish Mountains of Beara. The village of Eyeries is a short walk away. There are 5 acres of gardens, meadows, riverbank, and hazelnut groves. There is a 25-foot-drop cascades, a river island, 34 nooks and crannies with views, the ruin of a stone mill and a sod-covered meditation hut. For a good view of Anam Cara and the area, go to the web site (www.anamcararetreat.com) that features photos and videos of inside and outside Anam Cara.
"The July 2016 Memory, Secrets & Immortality retreat at Anam Cara in Eyeries, Beara, County Cork, Ireland continues as a magical dream. Many of us felt immediately and profoundly at home there. Eyeries is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Extraordinary to wander each day, deeper and deeper into the surrounding green, green land and the sea. In addition to having reflective space and time to read and write and to be with each other, we were able to jump into waterfalls, lie down in the fields, have massages, meet with a beautiful story teller and oracle, and visit ancient ruins together, in the company of wonderful new friends and very happy sheep and cows. I will always hold the long walks gazing at the changing skies, the sea, and the green, rocky coastline. And the wildflowers and the welcoming sweetness of all we met. Everyone at Anam Cara, and our other generous hosts, provided lovely, hospitable spaces for our work and communion as well as so many delicious, nourishing meals. Many, many thanks to Ione and Pauline and to all who made this wonderful trip possible. I shall always treasure our time together in Ireland and hope to return there soon. Thank you, Io ! '
