Digital Dream Boxes Artists' Statement
Picture
Dream Community of Kingston and Beyond-
The Dream Sack, a beloved ritual of Dream Festivals across decades, has been reimagined as Digital Dream Boxes - dancing around the boundaries between the visceral and virtual.

Keep your eyes and ears open!  QR stickers will soon appear, as will a costumed maven who would like to record your dream experiences with you. Find them in Kingston each week of the festival.

All modes and methods of sharing dreams are encouraged.  Dreams from decades ago, this morning, and visions of the future are deeply honored  We welcome fragments, sagas, whispers, reactions, and all in between, including but not limited to: sounds, drawings, poems, fragments, items, food, stories, emotions, dream objects....

About JL
JL Simonson is a sound artist and universal community member.  They investigate transgressive temporalities, the sonic history of jewish diaspora, and the potential energy of community listening.  They work with interoceptive and archival sounds, field recordings, and interactive electronics in addition to piano, guitar, and synthesizers to create installations and electroacoustic compositions.

Multidimensional lensing, trauma-informed compassion, and transformative justice are the guides of Simonson's professional and creative practice. Their creative work has been supported by The Ministry of Maåt, Great Lake Association of Sound Studies, The Jones Institute, Smith College, the Northampton Arts Council, the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology, and the Chicago Parks District.
